Research Summary:

Our goal is to describe the biochemical mechanism of the Ubiquitin Proteasome System in a physiologically relevant context.  A deeper understanding of the UPS leads to the discovery of unexpected ways through which cellular processes are regulated.  We translate the insights we gain into the mechanism into strategies to interfere in the UPS experimentally and eventually therapeutically.  As experimental methods we us techniques ranging from protein engineering, quantitative biochemical assays, cell biology, genome-scale screens, and single molecule biophysics.
