The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (ILS) Graduate Programs host a number of events each year. These events bring together students and faculty and help to foster a sense of community and spur a number of collaborative projects.
- The annual Admissions Weekends allow prospective students to get a feel for life in the graduate program, at UT and in Texas. These events typically consist of interviews with faculty members, a poster session, a tour of campus, presentations about student life, and social gatherings with current graduate students and faculty members.
- The New Student Orientation is held at the start of the first semester each year and provides opportunity to meet peers, familiarize themselves with program requirements and speak with Graduate Advisors and program leadership.
- The Annual Retreat hosted at the start of the fall semester offers opportunity for students and faculty to learn and discuss each other's research and to socialize. Visit this page to learn more.
- A regular Seminar Series featuring notable speakers from UT Austin and other institutions offers opportunities to learn about current reserach and to network with colleagues in a variety of fields. View upcoming seminars and events.
In addition, the ILS Graduate Student Association (GSA), also hosts a number of informal events and activities throughout the year. These include:
- Open Coding Hours
- BioTacos: research presentations by students + tacos!
- Pints with Professors: held off-campus, these are informal chats with faculty and students.
